Hi Fae Friends! Sorry I haven't been keeping up with my uploading schedule! If you follow any of my other socials, I explained why. I got a full time job in my field...well kinda. I'm not a kitchen and bath designer for The Home Depot. I've been working for two weeks now (or the Tuesday after we put our dog down). I'll talk about this new beginning in detail a little more in a future post.
Today i'd like to talk about Writing Prompts. I've been interested in writing prompts since high school when I dabbled in a little writing. I bought a book of writing prompts sometime last year...and just never used it. I started one at the beginning of quarantine but never finished it. I got busy or something; life happened. I also needed more space than what was on the page.

Let's give some background info...
What are writing prompts?
Writing prompts or essay prompts are learning assignments that direct students to write about a particular topic in a particular way...They are designed to integrate a students imagination and creativity into guided writing practice.

My Prompt is from "Write The Story" by Piccadilly. It's a paperback which retails for $10 but I got mine for $2.99 when I bought it. (The receipt was still in it)
Write the Story: A Strange Request at a Piano Bar
Include the following in your story: carnival, apple, sprained, juvenile, mask, controversy, oxidation, twirl, awkward and sassafras
I'm not sure why I'm here: at the city carnival. My anxiety is al an all time high! Why did I agree to this! Nothing good can come from it! I'm trying to give in to joy and be like everyone else but I just can't. Then I see him; a 18th century Joker wearing half a mask! Jokers are clowns; which makes me even more scared. I walk over to a treat cart as I look away. What do they have? Looking at the snacks is better then looking at him.
"Hi Sweetie! Is there something you'd like?" the woman behind the cart says.
"Um...Yeah." I look over everything.
"She'll have a candy apple." I turn to see the Joker. I lose my breathe. Clowns get me every time.
He pays for the treat and hands it to me. I try not to look at him for fear that I might cry. He grabs my hands and twirls me around making me move awkwardly.
"You should join me in the tent! There's a piano in there!" I try to pull away but he has now intertwined his fingers through mine.
"No thank you."
"We're taking request in five minutes."
"No thank you." He still has my hand making this even more awkward. Why won't he let me go?!
"Do you have to do that?" I pull my arm again.
"What?" He smiles.
"Act so childish!" He spins me again.
"I believe the more adult word is..." he smiles, "juvenile!"
"Please stop!" I yell. People are looking at me. Great! The last thing I need is more controversy surrounding my actions or my anxiety.
"Please stop." I breathe, now in his arms. I'm letting a clown hold me. "I don't want to hurt myself again."
"I heard you sprained your ankle some weeks ago."
"Do I know you?"
"Let's just say I've been watching you." I stop moving. Creepy. "5 minutes." He walks away toward the tent. I want to leave and go home where I'm safe but then I think about how has he been watching me. I walk toward the tent, which looked very unsafe. As I get closer I see the oxidation on the poles and bars that make up the skeleton of the tent.
"Why am I here?" I whisper out loud.
"Because they are doing requests. And after you make a request they give you a gift." The woman holds up a plant. A tree.
"What is that?" I'm confused.
"It's sassafras. Or a sassafras. It's pretty, isn't it?" The woman was very excited.
"I guess." She moves to touch me and I jerk away.
"Go make a request dear. Something you like." Then she walks away.
Walking up to the piano I notice there are papers you right your request on. What to pick? What to pick? LOL. I write my selection down then hand it to the Joker. I start to walk away when I hear him laugh.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes!" I turn to leave.
"Okay. Lol."
As I'm getting closer to the entrance I hear Michael Jackson- Leave me Alone. Epic end to this nightmarish night!
Hope you enjoyed your week! Love & Light!
