I Got Issues!

Hi Fae Friends!! I feel as though I have to explain myself and why I didn't post last week. I was fine all day, I had my post written out (because I write all my post out before I upload) and ready to go. Then I got home and Had an anxiety attack. I went to my corner and tried to steady myself; I tried a nap, a bath, nothing worked. So I didn't post. I couldn't get myself together.

I have been anxious all week but I wasn't going to miss another post, so I wanted to talk about my problems and issues. (Mental health is important and shouldn't be made fun of!)

I was diagnosed with Late-onset Postpartum Depression when my son was 2. My doctor said if I had came in sooner it wouldn't have been so hard for me to deal with.

Late-onset Postpartum Depression:

New moms may not see symptoms of postpartum depression until up to six months after they give birth.

Symptoms:

- changes in appetite

- changes in sleep

- anxiety

- difficulty bonding with your baby

- excessive crying or crying for no apparent reason

- feelings of sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness

- mood swings and irritability

- feelings of doubt about your ability to care for your baby

- physical aches and pains, including headaches, stomachaches, and muscle pain

The best way to get help when you're feeling sad, depressed, and overwhelmed is to ask for it. Talk to your partner about how you're feeling. Ask your parents to come down for a visit. Take some time for yourself and don't apologize for it.

Out of everything on the list I never had any problems bonding with my baby. My son was everything that I wanted; I feel the other adults around me, my situation and just sitting at home is why I developed postpartum.

Depression:

Clinical depression is a serious condition that negatively affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. in contrast to normal sadness, clinical depression is persistent, often interferes with a person's ability to experience or anticipate pleasure, and significantly interferes with functioning in daily life. Untreated, symptoms can last for weeks, months, or years; and if inadequately treated, depression can lead to significant impairment, other health-related issues, and in rare cases, suicide.

Because I had postpartum I can possible develop depression later in life and I can get postpartum again with my next pregnancy...YAY! (not)(it wasn't fun).

Anxiety:

Your body's natural response to stress. it's a feeling of fear or apprehension about what's to come. The first day of school, going to a job interview, or giving a speech may cause most people to feel fearful and nervous.

I hate going out in public and going grocery shopping makes me want to throw up! I don't like to look people in the face, so I look down. It hurts to have anyone look at me.

Empathy:

The ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

The 3 types: cognitive, emotional and compassionate

Empaths are highly sensitive individuals, who have a keen ability to sense what people around them are thinking and feeling. Psychologists may use the term empath to describe a person that experiences a great deal of empathy, often to the point at their own expense.

This is something I recently heard about. As soon as I looked it up I instantly thought about my sister and myself. It would make a lot of sense that we are empaths since we have so many anxiety problems, Summer Walker has some similar issues.

How to cope (and how I cope):

- Medication

- Therapy

- Meditation

- Special Diet

- Exercise

- Art Therapy (Recolor App, Design Home, Pinterest)

- Reading

The only 2 on this list I don't do are therapy and medication. When I tried to go to therapy I was told I was being too sensitive. I came up with a plan that I'd do art therapy and watch what I ate. I enjoy reading (a lot). I just recently started going back to the gym. I'm hoping to learn meal prep.

Blogging is something that I've wanted to do for awhile and just now got the courage to do it. I mean to be good at it.

Love & Light Fae Friends!
